The Greene County wrestling team was scheduled to host a quadrangular on Tuesday, Jan. 26. The snow storm on Monday and Tuesday forced the cancellation of the event and with postseason tournaments on the immediate horizon, the quad will not be rescheduled.
The Ram wrestling team finished in 11th place with 82 points Saturday at the 16-team Charger Invitational in Guthrie Center. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows posted a convincing team victory with 243 points. Second place went to Woodward-Granger with 180.
Although John Sprague (126) had the highest placing of fourth, seven out of the eight wrestlers competing captured a placing. Two of the Rams’ top wrestlers, McKinley Robbins and Brady Stauffer, opted out of the tournament, as did Logan Scheuermann, Nathan Black and Noble Hoyt.
Greene County heads to Woodward-Granger for sectional tournament action Saturday, Feb. 6, beginning at noon. The top two individuals in each weight class advance to the district tournament Feb. 13 at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn. The first and second place teams will compete at the district dual tournament.
